End o' April

My drawings today were fairly non-noteworthy, with the exception of a Firegrave pic drawn on a placemat in lip liner. The placemat was thrown away by a busser. I'll try and get up a nice final piece in the next few days.

Anyway, this has been a real blast. Though we each would have liked to have done more, I'm pretty stoked that we completed as much as we did. Hopefully, we keep this flame a'burning and spend more of our downtime doodling. I, for one, plan to lay down some color and finish up some of these pieces.

Whew, we made it, you guys. Go team!



I was going to try and go for a bang like Nate mentioned, but then all my impending finals of DOOM ate up my time so I decided to stick to my recent theme of post it notes. I plan on continuing with a post it note drawing daily!

Here's the brother/sister duo of Stephen and Sufie Helski. I may have been listening to Architecture in Helsinki when I first drew these two. Stephen plays banjo/drums and Suphie the guitar/piano/pan pipes. They both sing.

I'm not sure if they'll pop up in anything, but I like them. Maybe they have a place in Kim n' Ken's story.

Anyway, this was the longest I've gone without drawing something up proper this past month. My doodles of Emperor Zombie and steampunk Bane don't really count. So, I'm gonna try going out with a bang. Thanks, everyone.

More fun with body language. I started late, so I didn't give myself enough time to do a background like I'd wanted. Ken and Kim argue over who gets the keys: Mr. Sobriety or Miss Thumbs. They'd better hurry, though, because That One Guy's probably coming back. At any rate, Burton's having a wonderful time.

What is this guy doing? Acting in an irresponsible fashion, that's for sure! The kangaroo rat is appalled and so am I. Why's your hand all crazy, guy? You think your foreshortening makes it okay to have a bad hand? I doubt your googly-eyed spanner agrees with the decisions you've been making today.

On time!



I've been feeling like this a lot lately. And much like this drawing I can't get myself to refine anything. I really need to pour myself into something and use that to energize myself.


Aaaaand at 12:02 am, here is numero dos. Dag, yo. Everything's off but I have homework to attend to so I will put the pencil down here. I will also freely toot my own past-self horn and say that I used to be much better at on-the-fly portraits. I used to draw them of everyone, all the time. And I wish I had kept them all. Anyway, this one is really, really weak. But that's life.



Wait a second, wait a second. I'm back to share the realization that this is an amazing first step forward. This whole DEDA project... I'm getting myself to draw and actively use that artistic side of my brain again, for the first time in years. I'm doing this! That's a good feeling after all.

Inspired by a commercial where a frog hops into a car with a family inside. Hijinks and hysteria ensue, and at the end the mom throws her door open and the poor frog leaps to sweet, sweet freedom!

I obviously favor the amphibian.

Kim (whom you may remember from her cell phone spelunking this month) poses here with John from the Mountain Goats. He's famous, but nice. She's timid, but still a fan. So, it's cool, but... aaaaaawwwkward.

I'm way busy this week and have a ton of deadlines to make, so I'm still doing the drawings at some point during the day, but I may not actually get to posting and things..
It's winding down to the end of the semester and all of my teachers decided to pile everything on at once...

Just a sketchy update today, though the pencils didn't scan particularly well. This ties in with the "assigned" Disneyland piece over at dA. You might also notice the introspective fellow from Monday's comic. I've been giving more thought to where he fits in the world. I'm also toying with names. 'Firegrave' came about in a sleep-deprived haze, but it's interesting despite its campiness. How does 'Firegrave Gunlegend' sound? 'Graveshot Firelegend'? 'Firegrave Muzzlescythe'?

This is fun, but makes me wonder if I'm not taking this guy as seriously as I'd like to.

I drew more Venture Brothers today while attending an Easter service. Said drawings are in the car and scarcely worth mention. At any rate, I'm going to retire (relatively) early tonight. No new post.

So I definitely don't have as good of a reason as Kara, but I never really got to drawing something yesterday... I was running all over the place/freaking out cos yesterday was fail-tacular.
Well, I did draw something, but I virtually drew the same thing as the other day (Ethan and his wife), this time I just drew it on better paper and bigger, and that was actually at like 1am, lol
So I don't know if I should even bother to post it? Lol

Okay. Midway through writing an update on how I needed sleep more than I needed to draw, I suddenly needed to draw. Broadly inspired by tonight's pizza rolls, I decided to draw ol' Hank and Dean.

This is another instance of sacrificing picture quality for speed. It would've been best if I'd switched from my marker to my little pen for the detail-work but, well... I'm tired. I really do need that sleep.

I have a confession to make.

Last night I was so wiped out from traveling to a concert and filming parts of a documentary afterwards that I totally passed out without drawing anything.

Help! What should I do rectify this situation? I *will* post something for today.

This is the 16th drawing of the 60 one minute drawings I did in my Drawing class.. I just really liked this one so I thought that I'd use it.

This was the first of my assignments I took on last month. This is just the lineart for the two combatants. When I paint it up nice, there's going to be a big bright sun behind them. Maybe I'll even convert this into a Threadless subission.
