Kim (whom you may remember from her cell phone spelunking this month) poses here with John from the Mountain Goats. He's famous, but nice. She's timid, but still a fan. So, it's cool, but... aaaaaawwwkward.
I noticed your IM about this (the IM went to AIM on my phone instead of AIM on my computer.) This is pretty brilliant, man. I see a tiny hint of a smile on Kim's face there... ahaha. Wonderful.
Technical question! Did you sketch in pencil before you inked this?
I did! I generally do pencil roughs, then tighten it up with darker lines. Then depending on how confident I am or how afraid I am to default on all the work I've been doing, I'll usually start with my fine .05 black pigment pen.
I've really been trying to play with the thickness of lines lately, so after that, I'll try to get some medium-to-heavy-medium lines down with the fine end of my Coptic marker. Then if something requires nice, thick, juicy lines, the fat end comes out. And that one's really nice for filling in huge areas of black without inducing a headache. Then, I'll add the super fine lines with my .01 pigment pen, erase all the pencils and try to find places that need filling.
Phew! Long explanation there. I might have to make a post of this.
Anyway, thank you for all your support! And thank you for dragging me into this wonderful project! It's really helped me feel productive these last three weeks.
